Romans 7:15-24
15For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
16If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
17Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
18For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
19For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
20Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
22For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
(KJV)
Just a random thought, but is anyone else surprised they left out verse 25 in this study? That might make for interesting discussion—why leave that out?
Day 3: PROMISES
At times He speaks conditional promises, meaning they will only be experienced when a condition is met. For example, He promises to guard our hearts and minds with peace as we lay all of our anxious thoughts before Him with prayer and thanksgiving. (Phil. 4:6-7) Peace comes after we come to Him.
Other times He gives unconditional promises, meaning that they will happen
regardless. For example He promises to never leave or forsake His children. Never. Once His, He will not leave us. We may try to walk away from Him, but He remains our Father. He promises. - Savoring Living Water
Today read your passage while looking for PROMISES. Remember to note whether a promise is conditional or unconditional.
• What is promised to me in this passage?
• Are these promises conditional or unconditional?
• If conditional, what does He require for the promise to be fulfilled?
I don’t know that I see any promises in this Scripture. A promise that if we delight in the law of God we’ll have power over sin? A promise that the rest of our days we’ll fight the battle over sin but win in the end? I’m just not sure.
Hope y’all are having a great morning!! Glad to see a couple of you up and at ‘em yesterday. I was up too but this week has been busy, I’ve hardly been able to catch my breath! It’s not going to slow down until tomorrow, either. What a crazy week!! Hope you are all well. I’ll be praying for you!
